Darren Thompson
I joined NatWest Bank on the graduate scheme and qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
After 6 years working in relationship banking and then structured finance, I was given the opportunity to start either a biotech or a IT focussed early stage fund. This was an easy decision as I can’t stand the sight of blood and have been working with technology companies and fast growth companies in general since.
With a solid background in banking, venture capital and operational board experience, I joined Meridian as Director in 2003 and we completed our own MBO of Meridian in 2008.

My specialist market sectors
I have worked with technology companies for the last 15 years as investor and adviser and I am also the driver behind our own technology focussed venture capital fund. I also worked with companies at board level in aerospace and defence, biodiagnostics, sports retail and telecoms.
